Thank you, friends, for your tremendous support of the Zurabishvili family. May the end of this post inspire you to act, rather than feel sad. Tears won’t solve anything. Feeling compassion is important and wonderful, but our actions are even more crucial. God bless you! If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.

The child grows up in extreme poverty. But what torments the girl more than poverty is soul pain. After all, Lizi knows: if something happens to her mother, she will be left alone in this cruel world! Cruel, because she was rejected from birth by her closest people – her father and mother’s parents! Inhumans who did not want her to be born and forced her mother (can you imagine that, friends?) to kill the unborn child in the womb. And when Darejan refused to commit this terrible sin and did not commit murder, they left her without means, threw her out like a dog, with a small child in her arms, into the street! Animals! There is no excuse for them! Darejan (47 years old): “I can’t stand this hellish pain anymore. Sometimes I think about taking a rope and hanging myself, but I immediately remember my poor girl, who has no one in the world except me. I am very embarrassed to ask strangers, but I dare to do it as a desperate mother. I beg you, people: if I die, bring my girl a pair of warm shoes that your daughter no longer wears. I am an unfortunate mother in life and out of pity for my poor girl I won’t find rest even after death.”

Karina: “These are the exercises I do with my daughter every day. It’s our entire treatment! Sometimes, we don’t even have enough money for food! And I’m walking around in torn shoes myself!” “The problem is, I often suffer from terrible headaches too! But going for a consultation – there’s no money for that! And then I’m helpless… And my heart aches for my child!” How far is a mother willing to go for the health of her child? What sacrifices is she ready to make? How many days can she go without food, and how many years can she wear the same torn shoes, just to ensure her only joy isn’t deprived? And how long can she ignore her excruciating headaches that are killing her? “My daughter is my whole world. I have no one but her and we’re alone in this entire world! How we manage to survive – I don’t know. But perhaps God loves my Juliette and won’t leave us.”

Friends, this boy has endured a grueling three-year fight with cancer. He has bravely undergone 9 rounds of chemotherapy, 31 radiation treatments, and several complex surgeries, including the removal of his right kidney and a bone marrow transplant. For a moment, it seemed like the worst was behind him, that the danger had passed. But the cancer came back—a relapse. Neuroblastoma progresses rapidly, spreading metastases throughout the body at an alarming rate. This is why Nikoloz’s mother made the urgent decision not to waste any time and take him to Turkey for treatment. The last hope for saving Nikoloz is an expensive chemotherapy course. Each round costs $50,000, and he will need five rounds in total—amounting to $250,000. This treatment is his ticket to life, but his family cannot afford it. If we don’t help Nikoloz complete this lifesaving chemotherapy, it will be as if we are signing his death sentence. Our support can give this boy the chance to emerge victorious from this brutal battle. We cannot stop now. Nikoloz’s family has hope left only in God and the kindness of compassionate people.

I have always dreamed of becoming a military man, of defending the Motherland! God gave me this opportunity! But today the machine gun falls out of my hands! Bring me back to life! I must be on my feet and with my loving family! Only the thoughts of surgery in Turkey and a complete cure keep me in this world! And my wife Sofiko and my beautiful daughter give me strength to fight and live until the trip to Turkey. But when there’s no money for medication, I start having seizures, and I beg God to relieve me from this torment and take me to Himself! Forgive me for my weakness! But without medication while awaiting surgery, I feel nothing but excruciating pain!

Don’t think this photo is a scene from a TV drama. Unfortunately, this is reality, and it is happening in our small country. Twelve-year-old Megi burst into tears when she saw a Fund’s correspondent come to her home. This little girl began to tell such a tragic story about her family that one could think she was recounting a tragic film plot. Malicious death took away her beloved brother soon after birth, and now it is trying to take his twin brother, three-year-old Zuka. The cursed poverty turns death against him even more. The Pipia family is living in hell.

Tsiala (the mother): “Before the surgery, the doctor told me: ‘Keep in mind, I’m taking him in, and I will return him twice as tall as before.’ Seeing my son standing up straight is indescribable!” For all of his 17 years, Shalva walked with bent legs due to cerebral palsy, leaning on his mother or grandmother’s hand. And for all those 17 years, he dreamed of standing up straight, walking on straight legs. A few days ago, the family experienced that thrilling, long-awaited moment. For the first time, Shalva’s mother, grandmother, and the entire family saw him as he was meant to be – tall, stately as a cypress, and with the happiest smile. The entire country helped Shalva get on his feet. Friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund funded the surgery in Yerevan. “He’s now taller than me and his mother! – says grandmother Manana. – This is the greatest day in our and his life!”

“Bebika, did you bring me something?” – “And what about me?” Four arms hug Irina by the neck. Bebika (they affectionately call grandmothers like that in Georgia. – Ed.) brought two chocolates. Hungry month awaits Bebika: she will gather sorrel in the forest, make nettle soup. But her kittens – Maiko and Niniko – will not be left without sweets.

“Do you know what hurts the most? When they point a finger at you and laugh, mock you … not even behind your back, they tell you to your face the hurtful words, they call you the janitor’s daughter, a beggar, dirty… Like it’s a shame if a man works as a janitor. My mom sweeps the streets and I don’t think it’s an unworthy job! And when I grow up, even if I become a big, big boss, in spite of bad people, I will take a broom and help her! ” – the saddest brown eyes in the world look at me – two bottomless lakes of tears … For 12 years, Irma has endured so much ridicule and humiliation from her peers, as no adult could have withstood. Ill-mannered kids keep name-calling her.

Tamari (10-year-old), a little beauty with sad eyes met us with these words. “You see, he turns black… I am so scared, that I run away, hide in a far corner and cry… But don’t tell my mother, okay? Are you kind? Mom said that you would come to help us!” – the child looks into my eyes trustingly …
