In the deep, dark corner of a dilapidated house, within an empty room, lies a father of a large family. His eyes are full of sadness and fear for each member of his family. His tears are the most bitter in the world! During every choking episode, he bids a farewell to his wife and children! So terrible! His story is not just a personal story. It is a tragedy and a cry of all the sick and suffering in Georgia! The ways of the Lord are mysterious, my friends! We all understand this wisdom! We can’t count on anyone in Georgia except ourselves! Let’s lend a hand to the family because we are their last hope!

Five-year-old Lizzy clutched a piece of stale bread with a death grip. She’s sick, weak, suffering from cerebral palsy, and was born with a cleft lip, but no one can take the last piece of bread from her. It’s a matter of life and death. Even Lizzy understands that if she doesn’t fight for this morsel of food, she might go hungry for several days.

Nona (34 years old): I have been confined to a wheelchair since childhood. It’s so hard to talk about, but I can’t walk at all. Even with assistance. Not a single step, no matter how hard I try. I’m trapped within four walls and hardly ever go out. That’s why I decided to call your Fund. You have so many friends, and I want to befriend them and hope for help!

Badri (father, 54 years old): It was 4 in the morning when we heard a loud crack. I grabbed the sleeping children and ran outside. The day before the tragedy, we decided to move to the next room— perhaps we sensed something bad was coming. We went to sleep with fear, worrying that the ceiling might collapse on us. And the worst happened. Friends, these little angels can melt the hardest of hearts. How could anyone remain indifferent to such a plight?  Eight children are begging us for help. They don’t want to live in these terrible conditions; they just want to go home. Let’s unite and repair the roof for this family, who has given Georgia eight wonderful and decent children. 

“Did you come to help my brother? Did not you?” We’ve been waiting for you so much! I thought every passing car was bringing helpers. He really needs help! He’s such a good person! It’s heartbreaking to see him like this! He’s always crawling. You know how hard it is? I tried it once, and my knees hurt so much I almost cried. And he crawls like that his whole life. If you don’t believe me, try it yourself! Really! Go home and try it, then you’ll understand how hard it is for him…” – Eight-year-old Sergei greets us from the doorway as if he’s rehearsed a speech, because to him, we’re the saviors.
